What Should You Bring to Count Butterflies?

  • $3.00 count fee (proceeds got to NABA)
  • Binoculars (close focus of less than 6ft. is best)
  • Long pants (for walking thru tall grass and briars)
  • Sunblock and Wide-brimmed hat (for sun protection)
  • Plenty of water (one bottle of water is not enough)
  • Snacks (butterfly counting can make you hungry)
  • Butterfly Field Guide (If you have one)
  • TN Valley NABA Butterfly Count Checklist  (click on the link for a copy you can download and print)
  • You do not have to be an expert and Everyone is welcome!
